THE BUZZARD:

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet but that is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

THE BAT:

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

THE BUMBLEBEE:

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom.. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.

PEOPLE:

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! It's been long since wtba has seen a post.

Personally, I feel that a blog has the power to impact and make a difference in somebody's day, if not life, if utilised well. As compared to twitter, for example, a blog allows for a more complete and wholesome deliverance of food for thought.

A quote can set off a train of thoughts, but reading it in context brings about an opportunity to further understand and appreciate the quote and the issue(s) or subject(s) it concerns.

Of course, it takes time and effort to actually post something meaningful, constructive, and edifying. But is it worth it? Could posting at whattoblogah be anything better than attempts to try revive the blog?

Or perhaps, this blog has already long-lost its value and meaning to the region, because we don't have any idea what to post, anyway. What to blog, ah? Referring to the "Who Are We Ah?" column on the top left hand corner, "This blog is free spirited and is supportive of topics of any kind."

In accordance to the principle of walking your talk, I'm posting something meaningful to me. The classic, a forwarded email that really encouraged me. Some of you may have read this before, nevertheless, may God bless all of you through it.

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

Pass this on right now. This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over them.

And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.

AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SABBATH HYMNS, THE CHURCH'S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON, HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE .

IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS ONE OF HIS DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE SERVICE.

WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK.

'A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE SAILING OFF THE PACIFIC COAST,' HE BEGAN. 'WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE SHORE.

THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR, HE COULD NOT KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE THREE WERE SWEPT INTO THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED.'

THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO TEENAGERS WHO WERE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN, LOOKING SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY.

THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED WITH HIS STORY, 'GRABBING A RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING DECISION OF HIS LIFE: TO WHICH BOY WOULD HE THROW THE OTHER END OF THE LIFE LINE.

HE ONLY HAD SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION. THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A CHRISTIAN AND HE, ALSO, KNEW THAT HIS SON'S FRIEND WAS NOT.

THE AGONY OF HIS DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE TORRENT OF WAVES.

AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, 'I LOVE YOU, SON!'

HE THREW OUT THE LIFE LINE TO HIS SON'S FRIEND. BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO THE CAPSIZED BOAT, HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING SWELLS INTO THE BLACK OF NIGHT.

HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED.

BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP STRAIGHT IN THE PEW, ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER'S MOUTH.

'THE FATHER,' HE CONTINUED, 'KNEW HIS SON WOULD STEP INTO ETERNITY WITH JESUS AND HE COULD NOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON'S FRIEND STEPPING INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT JESUS.... THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON TO SAVE THE SON'S FRIEND. '

HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE SAVED. I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A HOLD OF THE LIFE LINE HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE.'

THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL.

WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE AT THE OLD MAN'S SIDE.

'THAT WAS A NICE STORY,' POLITELY STATED ONE OF THEM,'BUT I DON'T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HIS ONLY SON'S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN.'

'WELL, YOU'VE GOT A POINT THERE,' THE OLD MAN REPLIED, GLANCING DOWN AT HIS WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE... HE ONCE AGAIN LOOKED UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, 'IT SURE ISN'T VERY REALISTIC, IS IT? BUT, I'M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY Y GIVES ME A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR ME.

The objective of the session is to look at sexuality from a wholistic biblical perspective so that we will not be drowned by the voices and influence of the world.

The session is NOT to teach you the biological aspect nor how to engage in sex. It is designed to address God's intent of sex; procreation and its importance in husband/wife's intimate relationship. Amongst other things, the devil has corrupted the scarcity of sex in direct challenge to God's designed purpose. I guess everyone is trying to look on the good side of what is going to be another long week. The weekends apparently look quite a distant away. School is gonna be school, as usual. But i think there's something we all possess that people don't. God didn't create education to make you angry or bored, think about it. It's always good to remember the people you get to see when you actually step out of the realm of "school". So this is a suggestion that i think will brighten you up.

I think we could at least take an effort to send an encouraging sms to your net members maybe, take time to talk about the day after school. I think although it's quite a simple thing to do, but it does brighten up your day to know someone's thinking about you, that someone's there suffering the same stupid chore of school.

this comes after GoodNews, HotdogHalocaust, Net outreaches, Youthcamp, and now, TakeItToTheStreets. I just thought about all the souls, contacts and visitors that have come pouring in. No i do not have stats to show, or a number to give, but I really think that its time that we go after these contacts and begin to take a little more responsibility. (how i do i say this without being forceful or huhh, haha.) Its been super amazing seeing how you guys bring friends and include visitors when they come to our events or relax-one-corner at the playground but more than ever, i really feel that consolidation needs to be brought a notch up in our region. and yeeaaah, i wanna encourage you guys to do this all together, not just the netleaders but even us as members.

Begin to pray, and call and reconnect with all the names and numbers that we have gotten so far, i really believe that its God's time and His intervention that brought these souls to us. I was reading the Corporate sunday vfc weekly thing and the testimonies about those souls from GNS that stayed in God's house because of someone that bothered to consolidate and reinvite them back to church is just humongous. :) it really got me, at how people are just waiting to be asked back, people waiting to be prayed for and to be loved and showed how to connect to God, to learn more about our God.

I'm not saying its easy or that Im already totally great at this, but consolidation will require your effort and take up your time. if you lack the heart, then ask like i still do, that your Father will give you a heart for these souls just like His. if you're shy, then ask for His boldness. :) when you begin to posture yourself into the attitude of eternity, the urgency and the love will begin to drive you to pray and take responsibility for these souls, some even your friends. The seed has been planted, lets not let go and do our part!

Pray for them, that God will protect them from the lies and the deception of the enemy. Pray that they will be radically saved, and founded in the house of God, just like the dude we learnt about in CW, whose house did not shake when the winds of life blew. Let's be the answer for labourers in the Harvest of souls.You can start today, its the week of Prayer&Fasting. :D

So now even as you take Him to the streets, I pray that we will all begin to rise up and really, live like its our generation our responsibility and no longer just a slogan on EdgeAnnnouncements.

Postponement Problems

READ: Romans 12:4-13

We have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function. -Romans 12:4

Many of us struggle with them-postponement problems. A professor at the University of Calgary in Alberta studied the problem of procrastination for 5 years and reported that 95 percent of us put off doing one thing or another. One estimate showed that Americans lose approximately $400 million a year by putting off filing taxes! Because of fear of failure or other insecurities, we wait and wait before starting a project or making a decision.

Procrastination is a problem in the church too. Many of us postpone serving God. We know we should reach out to others, but we feel insecure or worried about what to do. Because we're unsure of our gifts or interests, we put off our involvement in the church. We worry, What if I do a poor job? What if I find out I can't even do it?

Romans 12 gives us some encouragement. Serving starts with presenting ourselves to God as "a living sacrifice" (v.1). Pray and give yourself anew to the Lord and His work. Then look around! at what others are doing in your church and ask if you can join in. Start small if you need to, and try a number of things.

Your church needs you. Ask God to help you overcome your postponement problems. -Anne Cetas

Youth Camp Elevate 2009!

A big hello to my favouritest region in the entire world,

I know majority of us are experiencing the post-syndrome of youth camp. Your group cheer is still ringing in your head, you wake up at 730am and wonder if you're late for group devotions, or you randomly shout your group name in the middle of the night when you're sleeping. Haha. Besides all the cheering, shouting and the fun, let's not forget the main purpose of youth camp.

I believe God has ministered to everybody and that we all have been touched by Him. I want to encourage each of you to hold on to that faith and hope that God has placed into you and not let anything rob you of what God has done inside of you. Pastor Jude mentioned that it is easy to live for God when you are in youth camp, easy to do devotions everyday, easy to concentrate on sermons, etc. But when you come out of camp, its a totally different thing because we have to juggle between our piorities like school/family, and church commitments. As we step out of camp, let's strive to place God as our #1 still!

I feel that one major problem is that we tend to forget and lose the wonderful things that God has done in us a few months after youth camp. I pray, and I urge that each of you make an effort to sustain the good work that God has done and IS doing in your life! Let's be consistent in our testimonies together (:

The Devil & the Duck

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.

He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.

He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target.

Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his Sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes'

But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.'

Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?'

So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, 'I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.'

Sally just smiled and said, 'well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help?

She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer.

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know.. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you.'

Thought for the day and every day thereafter:

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)....whatever it is...You need to know that:

God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He has seen your whole life.... He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not only forgives you, but He forgets.

"Without Him, I am nothing but with Him I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13)

Chapter 0.5, Comet

A comet fell from the sky. As it pummeled from the heavens, it split the clouds apart. The impact, as it hits the ground in a velocity so great, it pushed aside everything it came in contact with, which means the earth; the trees; the buildings all went flying. It dug on the surface of the earth for more than fifty kilometers before coming to a halt. By then, the damage done was already massive. It dropped and skit itself through the heart of London. Many lights were extinguished that day.

My legs gave way and my hands lost its grip on the handle as I watch the amount of light fade away. Tears came streaming down my face as I held it in my hands. I let out a cry of despair and sorrow. There was no sound. The whole event happened right infront of my eyes in silent motion. Even the explosions and screams were silent. I looked around, many were covering their ears. Silent?

More lights were dimming out as time passes. My heart ached further and my soul tore deeper as each light went out. The lights, they represented one living soul on earth.

Wooden see

Once I talked to a woodcrafter. His name was Eric Lenner. He was in his mid forties with thin graying hair and a large built. His forearms had very defined muscle lines and thick veins crawled from his hands to the elbow. For a man in his forties, he was really fit. He was wearing a goggle too big for his face and holding a chisel on his right hand and a small hammer on the left when I approached his shop.

What made me approach the shop was a particular wood statue. The beauty of it caught my attention. It was a fish leaping out of the water but froze in mid motion, as such, the tail was still in the water but the head was out. The water was also frozen in a splashing motion around the fish. It looked so life like as if it would start moving at any moment.

The shop was split into two. One side was all the woodcraft being displayed with price tag attached. The other side was a work area. Tools hung on the walls and on top of a big dusty workbench.

Eric was working on a piece of wood at the work area when I entered but how this story started was when I noticed the thing he was working on. It was a six feet tall human-sized log and it was rotten. Moss was growing all around it; Barks were peeling; many parts of it were black and there was some kind of sticky liquid all over it, making it appear wet. I’m sure it wasn’t water. There was an unpleasant smell too.

I remembered clearly what he said when he saw the disgust in my face, “Boy, don’t pass your judgment yet. This large piece of wood may be unsightly now but I do not see it as it is, I see what it would become.”

“You see what it would become? Can this even become anything good?” I said with amusement.

He turned away from his work and looked me in the eye through his work goggles and with a very serious tone said, “Yes, what it would become. I do not see things the way you see it. You can only see the present state of the wood which is disgusting and maybe even a little horrifying. Me, I see a beautiful work of art that it would turn into, that is, after all the hammering and chipping. I can see the potential of a piece of wood, and this wood has potential.”

Eric gave me a wink and got back to work. I nearly made a little laugh when he winked because of how cliquey it was. I continued into the shop and took a closer look at the fish wood piece and at the rest of the woodcraft in his shop.

I was on my way out when Eric started on the log. With strength, he hammered the chisel into the surface of the log in an angle and a big chunk of wood came loose from the body. He turned the chisel sideways and off came the chunk.

“Hey be careful!” I did not even know why I was telling a professional woodcrafter to be careful but I felt the sudden urge to say it after seeing how rough he was in treating the log.

“HA! Don’t worry! I know how much force each wood can take. I will not exceed the amount of force that it can’t take.” said Eric without turning to me or stopping his work. “Found anything that interests you?”

“No, just looking around.” And I left.

Now, you might be wondering how I know his name without even asking for it.

Three years after the meeting, I was at an art exhibition and I was admiring this five and a half foot tall woodcraft of a man holding the earth in his hands. Seventy seven thousand was the bidding price for it. The photograph of the artist who crafted it was printed at the side of the panel that describes the origins and meaning of the piece. It was the face of the woodcrafter I met three years ago. Below the picture was written:

That was what became of the disgusting and maybe even a little horrifying log I saw that day.

This wood has potential.

The Bus Driver

In the middle of carting 70 pieces of luggage, an electronic piano, and other equipment through airports and on and off a tour bus, it's easy to wonder, "Why are we doing this?"

Taking 28 teenagers on an 11-day ministry trip to a land across the ocean is not easy. But at the end of the trip our bus driver, who had carted us all over England and Scotland, grabbed the bus microphone and in tears thanked the kids for how wonderful they had been. Then after we got home, he e-mailed us to say how much he appreciated the thank you cards the kids had written to him-many of which contained the gospel.

Although the students ministered to hundreds through song during the trip, perhaps it was the bus driver who most benefited from their Christlikeness. In Ephesians we are told to be imitators of God and to walk in love (Eph. 5:1-2). Others see God in us when we show love to one another (1 John 4:12). The bus driver saw Jesus in the students and told them that they might ! just convert him to faith in Christ. Maybe it was for this man that we took that trip.

Why do you do what you do? Whose life are you affecting? Sometimes it's not our target audience that we impact most. Sometimes it's the bus drivers of the world.

When Jesus sent His disciples out, He gave them this promise: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt. 28:20).

Literally, the word always means "all the days," according to Greek scholars Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown.

Jesus didn't simply say, "always," but "all the days." That takes into account all our various activities, the good and bad circumstances surrounding us, the varied responsibilities we have through the course of our days, the storm clouds and the sunshine.

Our Lord is present with us no matter what each day brings. It may be a day of joy or of sadness, of sickness or of health, of success or of failure. No matter what happens to us today, our Lord is walking beside us, strengthening us, loving us, filling us with faith, hope, and love.

As He envelops us with quiet serenity and security, our foes, fears, afflictions, and doubts begin to recede. We can bear up in any setting and circumstance because we know the Lord is at ha! nd, just as He told Paul in Acts 18:10, "I am with you."

Practice God's presence, stopping in the midst of your busy day to say to yourself, "The Lord is here." And pray that you will see Him who is invisible-and see Him everywhere.

Jason Ray was a ray of joy on the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill. He performed as Rameses (the school mascot) for 3 years, hauling his giant ram's head costume to sporting events one day and children's hospitals the next. Then, in March 2007, while with his team for a basketball tournament, Jason was struck by a car. His family watched and waited at the hospital, but the 21-year-old succumbed to his injuries and died.

His story doesn't end there, however. Jason had filed paperwork two years earlier to donate organs and tissue upon his death-and that act of concern saved the lives of four people and helped dozens of others. A young man in the prime of his life, with everything to live for, was concerned for the well-being of others and acted on that concern. Those individuals who were helped, as well as their families, are deeply grateful for this young man who thought of others.
Jason's act echoes the heart of Paul's words in Philippians 2,! as he called believers to look beyond themselves and their own interests, and to look to the interests of others. A heart that turns outward to others will be a healthy heart indeed. -Bill Crowder

Battle of the Sexes

Hello there!
Tomorrow's our regional youth activity, haven't had one in a long time and this month we are having (if you haven't already heard) THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES.

Thats right, you get to take part in a series of games that will test your intellect/wit against the opposite gender! So if you think you're smarter, more intellectual, clever and think that YOU belong to the better/superior gender then PROVE IT!

Winner gets bragging rights for the entire year - and well.. we might just make this a yearly event :) just for fun.

Details are:

Date: 18th March, Wednesday Tomorrow.
Location: Grandeur 8, Function Room
Time: 1130am-3pm
Bring what: Yourself and your brain - you'll need it.

Games are clean, do NOT worry about having to clean up after the activity. However we must stress that punctuality would be appreciated :) Light refreshments will be provided as well but don't come without breakfast!

I can hardly imagine inviting special friends over for dinner and then throwing a few leftovers into the microwave to serve up to them. But if I were to do that, it would speak volumes about how I really feel about them.

Giving God the leftovers of our lives speaks volumes about His true worth to us. When God asked Abraham to give Isaac back to Him as an act of worship, Genesis 22:1 calls it a test. A test to see if there was anything in his life that he treasured more than God.

It's no different for us. There are times when God requires something really important to get His work done. He'll ask us to give up our natural instincts to seek revenge so that we can communicate His forgiving love by forgiving our enemies. He may call us to sacrifice portions of our time or money or comforts to advance His cause. Or He may require us to allow our sons and daughters to go to a far-off land to tell others about His saving love. The way we respond to what He requires says volumes about how we really feel about Him.

Anyone can offer the leftovers. Only those who love God more than anything else will serve up the very best for Him. -Joe Stowell

For those of you that might have missed the announcement made on Saturday and Sunday, i would reiterate it here for you, if you were not paying attention.
We're having a competition on February the 6th or 7th, called , QIGEBAGE IDOL and basically you have to preform in groups ranging from solos to groups of at most 6. You have 2 options to choose from:
Firstly, you can perform a talent, ranging from screaming loudly, to yodelling to, cracking three eggs in a hand, to yo-yoing, or barking or I don't know what.
Secondly, you can take the good ol safe option, known as the Back to SexyBackStreetBoys. :)
Well, what you have to do is get into groups of 5-6 people, it could be a single gender or mixed gender, and you can choose Music Videos from any band that suits you, ranging from the classic BSB, Westlife, to M2M( whoots), britney spears, rolling stones, William hung, or whatever rocks your boat. So on that day, you would perform live, with the original video being aired in the background, and the audience would basically cheer, wave flags banners and roll on the floor; laughing.

Alrights, this sounds fun! How do i go about doing it? :)
Okay basically what you can do, is to form a group, or join one. Currently, we have Sharmian, Jinlun, Christian, Rane, Samuel heng, thinking of heading a group. Go discuss about it. :)
Prepare, or at least have a rough gauge of what you'll would be doing by next Sunday, 2nd Feb.
Auditions will be held after service next Sunday. Please be responsive, it would mean alot to me and the whole committee.
Time cap: 5Mins p/ group/
Number in group caps: 1-6pax
Group caps: 6 groups

Judging Criteria
50% Judges, who would be revealed on that day itself for fear of bribery or attempted assassination.
Similarity (/20)
Creativity (/10)
Costume (/10)
Enthusiasm/group spirit (/10)

50% Popularity, voting slips would be given to everyone. :)

Basically be crazy, be innovative, think out of the box, think big. As long as you're game enough to pull it off, we're game enough to watch. :)
Remember, these opportunities come once in a lifetime, there's no second shot at this, grab hold of this, put down your pride or fear of embarrassment to build real friendships amongst your group members, try to include people you're not close to, build bonds, strenghten friendships, you don't know what God has in stored for you.
Dont let that little face problem interfere in this awesome opportunity, this could only be possible, and fun if everyone participates actively and is gung ho about this.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. -Isaiah 6:1

After you placed your food order at a popular fast food restaurant, the cashiers used to ask that famous question: "Would you like to supersize that?" In essence, they were asking the customers if they wanted more of what they were already getting.

In a similar way, when we come into God's presence, I believe He asks us: "Would you like to enlarge your understanding of Me today?"

Isaiah had one such experience with God. Through a painful event in his life, Isaiah saw the Lord "high and lifted up" (Isa. 6:1). Through this encounter, God supersized Isaiah's understanding of His holiness. He saw God's complete moral excellence that unifies His attributes.

God also enlarged Isaiah's realization of his own sin (v.5). This led to an expansion of his understanding of God's complete forgiveness and cleansing (vv.6-7). Only when Isaiah understood the depth of his sin could he appreciate and accept forgiveness and cleansing from God. Finally, his encounter with Go! d led to Isaiah's declaration of availability and commitment to reach out to others and to help them increase their understanding of God (vv.8-9).

on today's episode of QiGeBaGe drama, we have the attack on the Bishan Bengs once again! two years ago was the very vivd 'gang fight' that ended off with our heroine, Miss Grace Chong saying, "Never mind, if they want to talk, we can always go to the police station. It is just around the corner." The menace ran off almost immediately.

on January 10th 2009, around 945pm, QiGeBaGe's base was attacked my a launching of 10 water bombs from the multi-storey carpark. The watery shower caused a small tussle and a few screams. Except from some wet spots on the ground, no one was hurt.

so that leaves the question of who did it? who is this mysterious league that did this and ran away so quickly? we can only guess. was this the Bishan Bengs two years ago, unhappy that they still have not got our region girl's number? or was it JB (gladys claimed she saw him at bishan that night)? or was it Samuel Heng and Nicholas Tan that so conveniently appeared after everything was over? what about that angry mother that scolded us and told us that 'her baby was trying to sleep'?

whatever it is, our region still stands strong and it is times like these that displays our region's closely knit ties and love. QiGeBaGe's playground drama spices up saturday hangouts. WeGoJail to BishanBeng to WaterBomb.... these things will never back us down because after all that years of tradition, we have long claimed Bishan S11 playground as OURS.

Sorry if the previous post was too wordy, I learnt my lesson. Apparently nobody reads wordy posts. I'm doing this in short point form, so please read through and clarify all your doubts okay qigebage? :)

1) The cost per person has increased from $7 to $10.
-reason being cause we're scrapping gift exchange (more on that in next point) and dishing out awesome door gifts

2) There's no gift exchange this year, so there isn't a need to bring a present.
-we decided to go against traditions cause well every year at least a few people forgets about the gift exchange and sometimes the gifts you guys bring are really quite.. i have no words to describe it. and we realised if we charged $7 and made you guys bring a gift of at least $5, it would be like $12. better to pay $10 right? and get a free door gift! :)

3) Visitors need not pay. (self explanatory)
-someone asked about bringing someone from other region to the party. uh, i don't know whats your reason for that.. cause every region has their own christmas event but as long as you're from vfc, you have to pay $10.

4) SIGN UP BEGINS THIS SATURDAY (all payment to be in by saturday)
-please bring $10 to Joanna Wong (thats me!) and if you're bringing any friends you absolutely HAVE to inform us by Saturday. we need to know the total amount of people because we're getting door gifts for all of you.

5) Dress code remains the same, people who do not stick to dress code will be ostracised and given a forfeit.
-i'm joking about the ostracised part, but yes if you do not stick to the dress code we will forfeit you. it is up to the committee to decide if you are wearing winter wear or not so you better not be safe and try to slide through with some long sleeved and jeans.. hahaha. the forfeit is evil so you wouldn't wanna risk it :)

Dear Brothers and Sisters (and their friends),

Christmas is less than a week away and we are all excited about the upcoming Christmas season. This year we are putting together an exciting yet meaningful Christmas for Region 7/8 folks.

The day's events will kick off with a time of Light-Games and Hearty Breakfast. Our youths will lead us with a short time of Christmas Carols followed with our Kids putting up a beautifully choreographed Children Christmas Dance. A mummy and daughter team will put up a short Recital followed by an Illustrated sermon. We will also have a couple of folks share with us how God has touch them in the last year. Not forgetting, our Children Ministry has also planned a special Children Christmas Program, at Futsing Level 1, especially for the kids below 7 years of age.

Its going to be an exciting Christmas Service, just talking about it gets us all excited and hyped up. We would like to encourage everyone to bring at least 1 friend or a loved one for this special event.

We look forward to seeing everybody this Christmas! Cheers!

Thats right, our annual christmas party / thanksgiving is here again! This year, it will be held at our Fusion Youth Hub, so say yay to awesome facilities instead of old pok futsing :)

I suppose everybody's been trying to speculate the theme and dress code of the party, and you might have heard something from the committee or maybe your net leaders. So here it goes, the dress code this year is winter wear! Wait, before you start lamenting about how hot the weather will be in Singapore, pause. Because we (the committee) are bringing winter, the season that is never seen in Singapore, right here, to Yishun this very christmas. Trust me, the sanctuary will be so cold, that even the hairs on your hand will freeze. Don't worry about wearing your winter wear out, nobody asked you to! Bring your winter wear to Yishun Building and you can change before the party starts :)

Last year's Slumber Party was a success all because ALL OF YOU stuck to the dress code and decided to be sporting :) So, it is up to you to bring fun to the party. Lets all be sporting and really come dressed in your coats, thick leggings, beanies, ear muffs and whatever is related to winter. And no, long sleeved shirts and jeans are not, (I repeat, NOT) considered winter wear okay. You don't see people in countries that snow wearing long sleeved shirts and jeans when its freezing out there.

When we say winter wear, we are visualizing trench coats, boots (well ok thats if you have), pants, leggings, beanies, snow hats whatever you call em, ear muffs, shawls, scarfs, just basically what you see in shops that sell winter wear. I know one concern is: well singapore doesn't even have snow, so what makes you think I have winter wear? I'm sure you can borrow winter wear from relatives or even some youths who go overseas often to cold countires. Just ask around, you'll never know who has hidden gems in their closet :) If you rrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeallllyy don't have anything to wear, you come to me, okay? :)

Its going to be a night packed with exciting games, sharing and reflections for the year 2008. The games committee, the deco committee, the food committee has worked really hard to bring the whole feel of winter right to the steps of Yishun. Feel free to bring your friends along for the party! There will be a christmas gift exchange too that everybody will be required to participate in. The gift should be of at least $5, and please remember to wrap it up before you come!

Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more. -Romans 5:20

Pastor Louie was preaching on the pervasiveness of sin. "It's everywhere!" he stated emphatically. He told about waiting for a traffic light when he saw the man in the car in front of him finish his Coke, open the door, set the glass bottle on the street, and drive away.

"That was wrong!" Louie said. "It was a selfish sin! He could have caused someone to have a flat tire or even an accident." We don't typically think of littering as sin, but it is clear evidence of our inherent selfishness.

Later, as Louie was greeting people by the door, a Bible professor at a local Christian university said quietly as he walked by, "Sin puts the bottle on the street, but grace picks it up."

Now, many years later, Louie has not forgotten the lesson of that scriptural principle. It comes right out of Romans 5, one of the most uplifting texts in the Bible describing the grace of God. Adam's transgression brought sin into the world (v.12), and its consequences spread to all people. But God responded with grace, offering forgiveness through His Son to all who choose to believe. The human race sinned, and God answered with abounding grace (v.20).

One of the joys of being with kids is holding their hands. We do it to keep them safe while crossing the street, or to keep them from getting lost in a crowd. And whenever they stumble and lose their footing, we grab their little hands tighter to keep them from falling.

That's what God does for us. Inevitably there are stones and cracks that trip us up on the sidewalks of life. That's why it's easy to identify with the psalmist, who said, "My steps had nearly slipped" (Ps. 73:2).

We all face a variety of issues that threaten to make us stumble. For the psalmist Asaph, seeing the prosperity of the wicked caused him to question the goodness of God. But God squeezed his hand and reassured him that, given the judgment of God, the wicked do not really prosper. True prosperity, the psalmist discovered, was found in the fact that God was always with him: "You hold me by my right hand" (v.23). And just for good measure, God reminded him that He would also guide him t! hrough life and ultimately welcome him home to heaven (v.24). How good is that!

So, next time you stumble, remember that the powerful hand of God is holding your hand and walking you through life-all the way home! -Joe Stowell

And so with the help of Abner we've managed to put originally Joycelyn's and Qianhui's ideas into some sort of action. AND AFTER A FEW MILLION ERAS WE ARE GONNA HAVE AN ACTIVITY FOR THE REGION.

although I've only crashed one dance practice session, I really saw such dedication, fun and a desire to honour God in all of your hearts so keep it up. 180's coming up, the time of year when our region becomes all rah rah.

As our dance team, Adam & Eve will be having dance practices starting this Saturday, 9am at Yishun, all of you are invited to come support and have worship&prayer sessions together with the team.

Our goal for this year however is not to be crowned champions again, but rather, we really want to just worship God. The importance of it however to glorify God, Himself. Not for ourselves but for Him alone. As Carmen said, winning will just stay as a bonus, and not an aim. Our aim this year, is to really raise up young ones to have an opportunity to influence and to lead, to even allow them to really commit themselves into worshiping God.

I believe that dance is another form of worship. Offering our bodies as a worship unto Him.

So lets give our support to the team, as a region. Take this opportunity to bond with each other, fellowship, and worship Him together.

Guide to getting your best shirt sizes

Hi there, hope you don't think I'm too kaypoh for doing this. But a couple of you have asked about the shirt sizes and how to measure the width, length whatsoever, so I've decided to post this on wtba just so everybody can benefit, yay!

Firstly, you determine how you want the shirt to be on you. Fitting? Or as a oversized tee? (for girls) But actually I'd suggest you girls to NOT get huge sizes and buy oversized tees for our regional teeshirt because we're most probably going to wear this teeshirts during events like maybe 180, or when we have sunday service, led by youths and are required to turn up in same color (etc). It'll really look awful if we decide to wear the regional tee on Sun, along with our jeans/skirts/whatnot and then everybody turns up in oversized tees with nice bottoms. So ugly lah. I understand that ok, maybe you wanna wear the shirts oversized with fbts. Then don't get TOO oversized! Just get like maybe slightly looser, but not gigantically oversized because I know of girls who just wear hugely oversized shirts which look so weird. (Sorry haha)

ANYWAY, so once you've decided. Take out a shirt from the cupboard which you are the most comfortable in, or which is almost the exact size you wanna get for this region teeshirt and start to measure it! :)

Using a measuring tape, or ruler whatever, measure in inches.

1) Measure the PTP/width (pit to pit, or armpit to armpit. in short, WIDTH) in inches. (The red line drawn across as shown in the picture)

2) Measure the length down in inches. (The blue line drawn across as shown in the picture)

3) Check the size chart to see which size measurements is the closest to your desired shirt size! :) There you go.

NickTan Bicycle Lessons

Poor NickTan is at Pulau Ubin and can't cycle. He is definately desperate and we are laughing at him. I know it's terrible but it is just funny la.

"Last Minute Lesson" - NickTan can't get the hang of the couple bike, so is trying to have a quick lesson. Nice try.

"Ganba NickTan san!" - NickTan is still trying and we are watching his efforts.

"Of course shiok ah, Nicholas Tan!!!" - Bicycle girl from Republic Poly offers to give NickTan a bicycle ride. He is very happy.
